Terms of Service

Welcome to Village. These terms are an agreement between you and Village ("Village," "we," "us") for using askvillage.ai and the Village app. By using Village, you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.

1. Who can use Village

You must be at least 18. Village is currently an invite-only beta: you need an invite code or link to join, and we may limit or pause access while we build.

2. Your account

Keep your account to yourself, and keep the device or Google account you sign in with secure. You're responsible for what happens in your account. If your account isn't saved to Google, signing out or losing your device may mean you can't get back in.

3. Not medical, legal, or professional advice

Village shares what other parents did, summaries of public guidance, and AI-generated answers. None of it is medical, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and AI answers can be wrong. Always use your own judgment and check with your pediatrician or another qualified professional. In an emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number. For possible poisoning in the US, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.

4. Community rules

Village works because parents feel safe here. You agree not to:

Harass, bully, threaten, shame, or discriminate against anyone.
Post hateful, sexual, violent, or illegal content, or anything that endangers a child.
Share someone else's private information, or try to figure out who an anonymous member is.
Spread dangerous medical misinformation, or pretend to be a doctor or professional you're not.
Spam, advertise, or sell in circles that don't allow it, or use Village for scams or pyramid schemes.
Impersonate anyone, create fake accounts, or misuse invite and referral links.
Scrape, copy, or interfere with Village, or try to get around our security.

We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and content reported by several members may be hidden while we review it.

5. Your content

You own what you post. You give Village a license to host, display, and use your content to run and improve Village: for example, showing your posts to your circle, and including your survey or poll answers in anonymous statistics. Anonymous insights from your questions are used only if you leave that setting on (see the Privacy Policy). Only post what you have the right to share.

6. Recommendations from members

Recommendations for services, products, or businesses come from members, not from Village. We don't endorse them and aren't responsible for them, so please do your own research. Some links to stores are marked "commission": Village may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no extra cost to you. That never affects what members recommend or what Ask says.

7. Circles run by businesses or groups

If you create a circle (for example for a class or your clients), you're responsible for managing it, the members you invite, and the messages, reminders, and auto-replies you send. Members of a hosted circle should contact the host about the host's own services.

8. Referral program and pricing

Village is free during the beta. Founding members may earn credits, such as a free month, for friends who join with their link, which will apply once paid plans exist. We'll give notice before introducing paid plans, and referral credits have no cash value. We may adjust or end the referral program, and we may remove credits earned through fake accounts or abuse.

9. The beta

Village is new and changing. Features may change or be removed, and things may occasionally break. Please tell us when they do, using "Request a feature" in your profile.

10. Ending your use

You can stop using Village at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing hello@askvillage.ai. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or put others at risk.

11. Disclaimers and liability

Village is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, Village won't be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for decisions you make based on content in Village, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $50 or what you paid us in the past 12 months.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If changes are important, we'll update the date above and let members know in the app. Continuing to use Village after changes means you accept them.

13. Data credits

Local circles use metro-area definitions from the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (July 2023, published by the U.S. Census Bureau) and ZIP code data from GeoNames, licensed under CC BY 4.0.
