I was going in circles. So I built a village.
When my baby was born, I did what every new mom does: I asked everyone.
The 3am Facebook group. The WhatsApp chat with dozens of moms from my birth class. My best friend, my mom, the neighbor with three kids. And when everyone else was asleep, ChatGPT.
Everyone had an answer, and most of them were different. I'd scroll through two hundred comments about starting solids and come out more confused than when I started. I was going in circles, never sure what to actually do, or which advice to follow.
And AI searches weren't enough either. I'd get a neat, confident answer, and then talk to a mom friend who did something completely different, and it worked for her. The nurses at the hospital told me one thing. Then I got home and had an entirely different experience, with other moms, and my own mom, all telling me something else.
So I started wondering: what if all of it lived in one place? What thousands of real parents actually did, what a good friend would tell you, and what the pediatric guidance says, side by side.
Not to tell you what to do, but to give you the whole picture, so you make the choice and feel confident you made it informed.
Why privacy comes first
Here's the other thing: I hated posting my problems publicly. Some questions you just don't want your neighbor, your coworker, or your mother-in-law to see. But I loved answering other people's questions, sharing recs, and helping someone through a night I'd already survived.
That's where Village's privacy was born. Ask privately. Post anonymously when you want to. Message someone one-on-one without anyone revealing who they are. You get all the support of the community, and none of the exposure.
A source you can trust
Most of all, I wanted something I could trust. So every answer on Village shows you where it comes from: what other parents did, kept clearly separate from what the experts say. We never make up numbers, and we'll always point you to your pediatrician when it matters.
Our promise: no ads. Ever.
I've spent my whole career in marketing, so believe me when I say that's a big promise. Village will never show you ads, never run sponsored answers dressed up as advice, and never sell your personal information. You're not the product. You're the village.
If you're in the thick of it right now, I see you. You don't have to figure this out alone, and you don't have to do it in public.
Why elephants?
Elephants raise their babies together. In a herd, aunts, sisters, and grandmothers all help care for each calf.
When danger is near, they form a circle around their babies to keep them safe. When one of them is upset, the others come close and comfort her with gentle trunk touches and soft chirps. In hard times, the herd follows its oldest members, who remember where to find water.
That's what we believe parenting should feel like: a circle around you, people who've been there, and a memory you can lean on.
No one should have to raise a child without a village.
Welcome to the village. 💙
